Are Black Diamonds just High Quality Leopoldis?

I have recently purchased a sting ray book and I am very happy to know that there are more than two dozen types of fresh water sting ray. there is the Castexi, motoro etc. As I was reading the book. It classifies what seems to be Black Diamonds as P. leopoldi. It has all the characterstics of a black diamond, including the pearl necklace in the outer rim but it is classified as a leopoldi. The book posted several pictures of the P. Leopoldi Species. Some just have white spots some have the whole peanut eye, dougnut etc patters with the necklace . Can we conclude that Black Diamonds are just High Quality leopoldis? Can we classify Black Diamonds as a different species ?
Does it mean hat when we cross breed Black diamonds with leopoldis, we are not really doing a cross at all since both are just Leopoldis?

BD is a variant of the p13 leopoldi.
>I see, it just a variant and not a completely different species. will it be possible for two leopoldis to produce a BD or there is just no way?
What will the difference between a bdxleo when the offspring produces the necklace and patterns of a BD? anatomicaly it is the same?
>in a way a bd to the leo is the marble motoro equivalent of the motoro. most of the same characteristics but different patterns.

There is no way two Leos will produce a BD offspring because they are different variants. The collection point of BD are from Sao Felix alone. Just like with many other species of wc fish, the collection points do produce unique looks that cannot be found at any other collection points. The moment u mix a BD with any other blood, it value will drop even with leos. Once the blood is mixed, its a hit and run if they turn out well. Some might look like leos, some like BD some in between.

Its not by random or by chance, but the appearance of the 2 variants of P13 are diff Nibong Tebal Aquarium
